Friendly service

Pathetic excuse for a local pharmacy in a small community. I tried to buy Claritan D, which you normally can get from the pharmacist with ID. I just needed on box, wasnt asking for 100 tablets of something. They carry it but require a prescription. How ridiculous to require a doctors visit to get an over the counter medication. The pharmacist cited "problems with drug users" over the years, well thats why you require ID and do the necessary paperwork. I call it lazy and poor service. Id rather not drive 20 miles into New Philadelphia, where every pharmacy carries it, but I certainly will. I think its terrible that they are not full filling a service due to laziness, poor staff training etc.

Good people

This is the worst pharmacy ever.....

Medi-Wise Pharmacy has taken a stand against medication misuse and abuse. We realize that our policy on ensuring the legitimate use of pseudoephedrine and related products may cause minor inconveniences, but we felt that it was very small compared to the rapid growth of meth labs in our town and surrounding area. Other retailers in town that sold other products related to the methamphetamine production also stopped selling their products; a move that our police department has praised. When we sold the pseudoephedrine and similarly regulated products without a prescription, all employees were trained based on the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) annual requirements. We also invested in MethCheck, the national electronic live tracking system for pseudoephedrine and related products. While dispensing the pseudoephedrine and related products, we witnessed individuals not only coming in alone, but with a friend to purchase the products; if one ID did not pass the MethCheck, their friend would use their ID. When we announced the requirement at our store to have a prescription, we saw a dramatic decline in these shoppers and the sale of pseudoephedrine and related products. We continue to see prescriptions for pseudoephedrine and related products, as we did before, for patients who have severe sinus problems and have visited their medical prescriber. Seasonal sinus needs can best be controlled by medications that we can counsel on such as antihistamines (allergy meds) and mucolytics (guaifenesin) rather than adding a decongestant. So while you may think we are pathetic, we feel we are meeting our professional obligation to take care of the local community. We were ensuring the legitimate use of the drug, also a requirement for pharmacists by the DEA and Ohio State Board of Pharmacy. You can do your part by educating your friends, neighbors, and other social media groups on the importance of curbing medication misuse and abuse both for non-prescription and prescription medications. Until we all stop talking about it and do something about it, medication misuse and abuse will continue to rise.
